There has been a lot of hustle and bustle about the smartphone cult brand Blackberry in recent months.
Now the production is apparently to be completely stopped.
Waterloo/Munich - The emotional world of Blackberry lovers has certainly been on a rollercoaster in the past few weeks and months.
In October 2021, the Canadian manufacturer, together with the American technology company OnwardMobility, announced that they would withdraw completely from the market.
At the beginning of 2022, after weeks of silence, OnwardMobility made a mega announcement: There should be a 5G-capable smartphone under the name Blackberry!
But all that seems to be in the past after just a few days.
Blackberry and OnwardMobility: Not a new smartphone?
From a report by the founder of the Blackberry community "Crackberry", Kevin Michaluk, it is now clear that the plans to bring a new device onto the market are already passé.
According to Michaluk's sources, Blackberry wants to completely withdraw from the smartphone market.
The Canadian company had only sold patents for around 600 million US dollars, which could apparently also affect the smartphone division.
According to Michaluk, however, official confirmation from Blackberry and OnwardMobility is still pending.
So there is still a small spark of hope for a new 5G-capable Blackberry.

Blackberry and OnwardMobility: Poor communication with customers
True lovers of cell phones with distinctive keyboards complain about poor communication between companies.
After weeks of silence, OnwardMobility reported back on Twitter, but things have been very quiet around the company since then.
It stinks for Twitter users.
One writes almost desperately: “Say something … you owe us that.
Show the phone...or say it's over." Another puts it more bluntly: "It's been more than 1 MONTH with no news...not a single message before this tweet...congratulations for the improvement, cheers us on updated (ironic... just in case)".
