The »Futurama« series is supposed to come back – but an important commitment is still missing: a comeback for John DiMaggio, who speaks the robot Bender, is only conceivable if all the speakers get more money.

In the English-language version of »Futurama«, his voice belongs to the chain-smoking robot Bender – now voice actor John DiMaggio has spoken out via social media: He is therefore only willing to make a comeback in the series if he pays better in the planned new season will.

"I've been thinking about everything that has happened over the past few months," DiMaggio wrote on Twitter.

“And just to be clear, I don't think I'm the only one making more money.

I think the entire cast deserves it.«

»Futurama« is one of the most well-known TV series from around the turn of the millennium.

The extremely ironic format revolves around the adventures of 25-year-old pizza delivery boy Fry, who accidentally freezes himself on December 31, 1999 and wakes up 1000 years later in a brave new world: His illustrious circle of friends includes the one-eyed beauty Leela and Bender , a robot who is kleptomaniac, alcoholic and ruthless.

The role of voice actor DiMaggio is thus one of the most important in the series and is closely linked to his voice for the English-speaking audience.

"Bender is part of my soul and none of this should be disrespectful to my fans or the Futurama family," DiMaggio wrote on Twitter.

“It's about self-respect.

And frankly, being weary of an industry that's far too corporate-centric and exploiting artists' time and talent." DiMaggio didn't provide details on the salary negotiations on Twitter.

Disney + and the »Futurama« creators David X. Cohen and Matt Groening have not yet commented.

Disney+ recently announced that it intends to continue the science fiction series.

According to consistent media reports, the streaming service announced that it had ordered 20 new episodes.

The series will go into production in February and premiere in 2023.

»Futurama« was created in 1999 and was shown on ProSieben shortly afterwards.

Series production for television ended in 2003.

After that, four more films were made for the DVD market in 2007.

Because these sold so well, there were new TV episodes from 2010 to 2013.

A total of 140 episodes were produced over the seven seasons.
