Instagram launches "Take a break" in Italy this afternoon, the function that allows you to decide how much time to spend on social media to have more control and awareness in using the app.
Once the option is activated, users will receive a reminder, which will remind them to temporarily exit the platform, for a certain time.
From the tests carried out by Meta, the group that controls Instagram, in the countries where the function is already active it emerged that once the reminder has been set, more than 90% of teenagers respect it.
To enable "Take a break" you need to go to "Settings", "Account", "Your activity" and select "Set break reminder".
At this point you can program a reminder that will send a notification once the maximum browsing time on the social network has been reached, when you do not exit and re-enter the app but you always remain on the same.
To make sure teens are aware of the option, Instagram will show a notice inviting them to try it.
"With 'Take a break' we have added an additional tool to those that Instagram already offers for time management - explains the team - including the" Daily reminder ", which allows people to set the amount of time they want to spend on the social media during the day and notifies them when they have reached the set limit, with the possibility of deactivating notifications to focus without interruption on what they are doing ".
Coming soon, Instagram will also launch parental controls tools, to manage the time that children and minors spend online and set limits.
