The Golden Bear at the 2022 Berlin Film Festival went to Carla Simon's Spanish film Alcarras.
The film, also produced by the Italian Kino Produzioni, is the portrait of the Solé, three generations who have always spent the summer on their peach plantation in the Catalonian village of Alcarràs.
But this year's harvest may be the last.
The family is threatened with eviction by the owner of the land.
Trees need to be replaced by solar panels, and economic worries lead to fractures in the family, while everyone's fate looms.
The Barcelona-based director drew inspiration from her personal story and chose non-professional actors who speak the Catalan dialect for this 'agricultural resistance' film.
