The number of cases continues to decline in France. All the indicators are green, in particular daily hospitalizations, down

Nightclubs reopened on Wednesday, a symbolic measure to ease restrictions illustrating a marked improvement in the health situation.

Because even if it is largely dominant, the Omicron variant causes less serious forms of the disease, which translates into shorter stays in hospital and a lower risk of going to intensive care.

This Wednesday, French hospitals are welcoming 30,578 positive coronavirus patients, slightly less than Tuesday (31,091).

Seven days ago, Public Health France counted 32,878. Two symbolic bars were crossed: less than 2,000 new patients diagnosed with Covid-19 were admitted to hospital.

In the past 24 hours, there have been 1,975 new hospital admissions of people diagnosed with Covid-19, compared to 2,454 the day before and 2,614 a week ago.

Another notable positive sign, less than 100,000 cases have been diagnosed in France, precisely 98,735. A drop of 30% compared to the day before.

The most serious cases, treated in critical care services, are decreasing with 3,126 patients this Wednesday evening.

They were 3,235 yesterday and 3,503 last Wednesday.

In the past 24 hours, these units reserved for severe forms have recorded 207 new entries, against 296 seven days earlier.

Daily deaths have fallen by 10% in one week.

Public Health France has recorded 244 deaths linked to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

Since the start of the pandemic, 135,737 coronavirus-positive people have died.

A low rate of vaccination

On Monday, for the first time since December, the incidence rate fell below the threshold of 1,500 (cases per 100,000 inhabitants).

Such a sharp drop in percentage had almost never occurred in the past.

The positivity rate has also been in sharp decline for 14 days.

Three consecutive weeks of declining incidence rate, and two consecutive weeks of declining positivity rate.

Both remain at much higher levels than previous peaks.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign in France, 54,176,336 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 80.4% of the total population) and 53,110,247 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 78.8% of the total population).

In addition, 38,187,820 people received a booster dose.

In the past 24 hours, 197,501 doses have been administered.
