Before the Corona Cabinet announces the abolition of most of the remaining corona restrictions, and after senior government officials boast of Israel's so-called victory over the Fifth Wave - it is worth remembering the never-ending tragic figures of the current wave.
Israel has become a country considered unsuccessful in treating Omicron: some 1,400 victims in the current wave (an infinite number at all), all of whom could have lived for many more years;
Tens of thousands of critically ill patients, most of whom, according to senior doctors, may suffer severe disabilities for months and years;
And millions of Israelis who have been verified to Corona, and some of whom, including children, may suffer from ongoing physical and mental symptoms.

Also, the testimonies of the medical staffs in the hospitals on the fifth wave are very harsh, and even if they "pass over the head" of most journalists, government ministers and even the heads of the Ministry of Health - it is very important to know that doctors report serious harm to medical care. Severe patients are less likely to live and survive, and all this - due to the acute and ongoing shortage of medical staff, who are skilled in treating difficult patients and respirators.
Heavy price
In all four previous waves, we have learned in our flesh that a hasty and smug exit from the corona is always life-threatening, and carries a heavy, unnecessary and unforgivable price: both in causing further and unnecessary harm, with the addition of verified, seriously ill and dead, and in accelerating the arrival of A new corona wave, which according to experts' estimates may reach both abroad and in Israel.
Danger of a new strain
What the Corona Cabinet and the government should have done now is not to repeal the Corona restrictions to show a fake and fictitious victory over the Fifth Wave, when in any case very few Corona restrictions remain in Israel, along with so little enforcement.
The haste of the Minister of Health, the heads of the Ministry of Health and the government to repeal the restrictions could cost us dearly, if God forbid new strains of Corona develop and bring Israel into a fragile and dangerous situation for another wave of the plague.
The vaccination campaign must also continue, especially now and even more so, for the millions of Israelis, including the children, who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated, and thus they are not protected against the epidemic.
But when the Ministry of Health and the government complete the public that the corona has disappeared and present a false representation of reality - the public's motivation to get vaccinated completely disappears.
