A single dose of corona vaccine for recovering patients reduced the risk of re-infection by 60% -82%, according to a study by Clalit Health Services, which was to be published tonight in the New England Journal of Medicine.
The study found that among vaccinated 18-64-year-olds who were vaccinated, a week or more after vaccination, an 82% reduction in the recurrence rate in Corona was observed.
Among vaccinated recoverers aged 65 and over, a 60% reduction in recurrent infections was observed, compared with recoveries of those ages who were not vaccinated at all.
The study was based on data from 149,032 recoveries in general, and the findings do not refer to the omicron wave, in which about half of those infected were vaccinated.

As is well known, the risk of contracting the virus is significantly reduced among recovering patients, but so far it has not been known how long this protection lasts.
Following this, the Ministry of Health recommended that recoverers be vaccinated in one dose, three months after their recovery.
According to the results of this study, no benefit was found for administering two vaccines to recoverers over administering one vaccine.
Dr. Doron Netzer, head of the community medicine department at Clalit, who conducted the study with Dr. Ariel Hamerman, Dr. Shlomit Yaron and other colleagues:
We do not yet have information on the level of protection for preventing re-infection with the omicron wave.
It is clear beyond any doubt that the Ministry of Health's recommendation as early as March 2021 to vaccinate recoverers was very helpful in curbing the Delta Wave. "
"We speculate that the least benefit observed among those aged 65 and over was due to the fact that recovering coronary patients at these ages tended to adhere much more to the rules of social distance and mask wearing, so relatively the added protection from the vaccine is less, but still very significant."
