The year of celebrations will open the museum with a new permanent exhibition of Israeli art, which includes more than 120 works

This year, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art marks the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the institution, which was the first art museum in Israel and was founded in 1932.

The celebrations will be opened by a new permanent exhibition, which will open tomorrow (Thursday) to the general public, which includes the museum's Israeli art collection.

The exhibition, "Material Imagination", is curated by Dalit Matityahu, and is spread over three spaces and includes more than 120 works by the best Israeli artists.

Some of the works are familiar and well-known, and some are presented for the first time to the public.

In fact, the exhibition offers a re-examination of the history of local art, from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day.

Among the artists whose works are displayed in the exhibition: Arie Aroch, Naftali Bezem, Yossi Berger, Micha Bar-Am, Tzivi Geva, Nahum Gutman, Yair Garbuz, Moshe Gershuni, Yosef Zaritzky, Miriam Kabsa, Rafi Lavi, Yaakov Mishori, Leah Nickel, Zoya Ch Raski, David Riv, Ziona Tager, Yigal Tumarkin and more.

"The museum is celebrating its 90th anniversary, and we have chosen to renew its commitment to the local arena: to Israeli art and to Israeli artists," says Tanya Cohen-Uzieli, the museum's director.

In the last two years, we have purchased a lot of works by Israeli artists.

"The exhibition of the new Israeli collection looks more at art and less at history, and has paintings, sculptures, photographs and video works by artists, old and new. It was important for us to include many women artists, Jewish and Arab. There is a fresh look at the artistic activity in 100 the last years".

As part of the new exhibition, a first solo exhibition will be opened for the painter Ruth Schloss (1922-2013), who is educating the gallery for rotating exhibitions.

The gallery is located in the heart of the Israeli collection.
