Today, the Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University opened a new specialized surgical clinic for postgraduate students in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

The President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, stated in a press statement that the opening comes within the college’s plan to develop its laboratories and clinics to ensure the quality of the educational and academic process and provide the best medical and treatment services to patients.

Al-Jabban explained that the clinic will reduce the burden on clinics that train undergraduate students in the fourth and fifth years, noting that the College of Dentistry is taking important steps to raise its scientific and academic level and improve the quality of its outputs and services. Region.

In turn, the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Khaldoun Darwish, explained that the new clinic will reflect positively on all components of the educational and service process and create better conditions for training graduate students by securing a place for them separate from the first university stage, indicating that the clinic includes modern medical equipment and tools that were secured with funding from The Directorate of Full-time Academic and Profession Practicing at the University of Damascus and An-Najah Medical Equipment Company.

Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Basil Brad Bayan, that the density of students who were performing their practical training in one clinic negatively affected the size of the allocations for each student of the practical training required of him, noting that the college found a solution by separating the place of training for postgraduate students specializing in jaw surgery and pre-students graduation.

With the new clinic, the number of chairs allocated to graduate students in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery becomes 14, according to Brad.

The College of Dentistry, in which about four thousand students study, includes ten departments in the specializations of oral medicine, surgery, jaws, orthodontics, prosthodontics, fixed teeth, periodontology, pediatric dentistry, therapeutics, prosthodontics, mobile teeth, histology, pathology and life sciences.
