Vice President Kamala Harris holds the second highest political office in the United States, behind President Joe Biden.
How much is her salary?
Kamala Harris has been Vice President of the United States of America since November 20, 2021.
Not only is she the
first woman
to hold the second highest political office in the United States, she is also the
first African-American and Asian-American
to hold the position.
For a short time Harris even had sole power in the USA.
Her record so far reads a bit mixed: Since taking office, Harris has lost a lot of her approval ratings and was
only 28 percent
in November , as quoted by the BBC from a USA Today poll.
This makes her one of the least popular vice presidents in the history of the office.
There are many reasons for this, but above all it is due to the thankless task of stemming the flow
of refugees from Central and South America
that President Biden entrusted to her.
Of course, that doesn't affect her salary - but how high is it anyway?

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris: The salaries of top US politicians
The salary of the US President and that of the US Vice President has risen five times since George Washington took office in 1789 - the last time in 1999.
President Biden currently earns $ 400,000 a year
, thoughtco.com knows.
That's the equivalent of around 350,000 euros.
For comparison: Olaf Scholz earns around 242,000 euros as Chancellor of Germany.
As Vice President, Kamala Harris is of course classified below Joe Biden in terms of salary.
The 57-year-old earns an
annual salary of around 206,000 euros
.
That's about 17,000 euros per month.
Of course, this does not include the additional income of the politicians.
Harris, for example, released her memoir, The Thruths We Hold, in 2019.

Family Comparison: A Surprising Disparity
Interestingly, if you look at the total income of the presidential families, Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff leave the Bidens far behind.
For example, Newsweek reports, based on the presidential and vice presidential family's tax returns released over the past year, that
Harris and Emhoff collectively earned over $1.6 million
in 2020.
Joe and Jill Biden made "only" about $607,000 that same year.
Why the big difference?
Harris' husband Doug Emhoff is a very successful and sought-after lawyer - and earns a lot accordingly.
In addition, Harris/Emhoff's annual earnings included earnings from Harris' memoirs.
Ultimately, however, the result was a somewhat absurd picture: the vice presidential family paid
more in taxes
for the year (approx. $621,000) than the
presidential family took in as a whole
.
