C. Tangana puts the icing on his stage as El Madrileño in a video with Omar Montes

2022-02-18T13:50:23.997Z

The artist, who begins this Saturday his tour 'Without singing or tuning Tour 22' through seven countries, reissues his latest album with nine new songs

The man from Madrid has already finished preparing his luggage and is ready to leave.

But it is not a farewell, but the beginning of his journey.

Antón Álvarez, alias C. Tangana, has completed his first stage of success under this new avatar with a reissue of his album

De él El Madrileño

(2021), now with the addition of

La sobremesa

to the title, published this Friday

.

And a day later, this Saturday, he begins his tour

Without singing or tuning Tour 22

in Malaga, which will be followed by another 12 dates in seven countries.

In this new release, the artist has concentrated the fruits of his new musical stage, in which he moved away from the more urban styles that he had offered up to now, such as

trap

and reggaeton, to embrace folklore and popular music from Spain and Latin America, from rumba to bachata —even both combined as

rumbachata

, a style he coined for his single

Tú me dejaste de Quiero

—.

Why the name of

La sobremesa

?

The answer lies in a fake live performance that he recorded for National Public Radio (NPR) —the public broadcasting service in the United States— last April, in a

tiny desk

format (concerts of about 15 minutes),

through which international artists have passed, such as Coldplay or The Cranberries.

The one in Tangana has as its stage the Casa Carvajal, also in Madrid, a building in the Somosaguas area.

It presents a table decorated as if a family banquet had just ended, surrounded by Antonio Carmona, La Húngara and Kiko Veneno, with whom he collaborates on his new songs;

Alizzz, Álvarez's trusted artist and producer, and loved ones and relatives, such as Antón's own mother and aunt, or Carmona's daughters, Marina and Lucía Fernanda, both artists, among other musicians.

A detail of the table, in the form of a painting, has become the album cover.

Two of the songs from that direct are included in the reissue, but they are not the only ones.

Up to nine compositions have been added to the original list of

El madrileño,

with a

total of 23 cuts.

Some have already been previously released as singles, for example,

Ateo

, the bachata that he sings with Nathy Peluso, or

Yate

, a song that was accompanied by a photo that raised controversy because the artist appeared on a yacht surrounded by women in bikinis.

There are only three that have never been played to date, notably

La culpa —which

has also released a video clip—, in which she surrounds herself with Omar Montes, Canelita and Daviles de Novelda in the purest style of Los Chichos.

And where, just as he did in his performance at the Goya Awards gala with Rita Payés, he goes unnoticed to let the other voices shine.

The aforementioned song with Payés,

I venerate you

, is also added, in this case with Cuban music legend Omara Portuondo, voice of Buena Vista Social Club.

Likewise, Bobo

debuts ,

bachata with the referent of the genre Luis Segura.

Now is the time to defend what has been built to date on the stages of Spain, the Dominican Republic, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and the United Kingdom.

It has already hung the sign of no tickets in Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona, Zaragoza and London.

Then it remains to be seen if Álvarez will mutate into another avatar, as the artist has been accustomed since he began with the pseudonym Crema, at the end of the 2000s, or if he will stay from Madrid for a while.
