If funds in euros were the heyday of life insurance, they are now struggling.
They brought in around 1%, on average, in 2021, with some contracts still managing to come out on top, such as those distributed by Afer (1.7%), MACSF (2.1%) or the mutual Garance (2.75%, best rate of the year).
But these poor yields do not sign the end of this product, far from it.
"Life insurance, and in particular the fund in euros, meets many needs, one of the very first of which remains the protection of invested savings",
reassures Fabrice Bagne, deputy general manager of BNP Paribas Cardif.

To secure savers' funds, insurers place the majority of their portfolios in government bonds, which are currently very unprofitable.
