Two years after the start of the pandemic in Nembro and Alzano Lombardo,

the two municipalities that with

Bergamo

were among the most affected by Covid in Italy,

the pain for the numerous deaths is giving way to the desire to leave

.

Even if the memory of that tragedy witnessed by the images of the long lines of army trucks with thousands of coffins on them will never be erased, we look to the future by treasuring what the past has taught and keeping in mind that the password is 'reconstruction'.

This is the spirit with which the two countries that have made the headlines together with the entire Val Seriana, are preparing to face a period delimited by two dates:

February 20 is the day in which Codogno, in the Lodi area, was diagnosed with first case of Coronavirus in Europe, that of Patient 1, and March 18 is the National Day in memory of the victims of the epidemic

In

Alzano Lombardo

, as Mayor Camillo Bertocchi tells us, "let's not forget what happened. The pain is still strong but there is also a great desire to react. We have a sort of dream book, one of which is almost reality".

In fact, the town hospital, at the center of one of the chapters of the investigation into the management of Covid that the Bergamo prosecutor is preparing to close, will become a center dedicated to mothers and children.

The current structure will be closed gradually to be then emptied and demolished.

At the same time, a new building will be built and opened that will house all the specialties for children and women of all ages: from pediatrics to the birthplace, from child neuropsychiatry to gynecology up to geriatrics.

The mayor of

Nembro also speaks of rebirth

, Claudio Cancelli: "The message that must pass is to look forward", he explains in the light of the fact that "the production system of Val Seriana has resumed in a great way" and companies, especially those that have many orders from abroad, are looking for personnel specialized.

This is a sign of "a restart that is not a rebuilding as before" but is "being aware of the strength and energy that we have put in place and that must support us for future challenges".

Cancelli next month, on March 18, on the occasion of the day dedicated to the victims of Covid, will inaugurate the wood of memory: an area with cypress trees and, in the center, a mirror surface to reflect the sky,

a rough stone bench where you can sit and meditate and paths with slabs engraved with the names of his fellow citizens who died between 23 February and 30 April two years ago.

"People who have left us something and therefore must be remembered in the beauty of their life".

Even the judicial investigations born around the pandemic are about to come to a halt and a twist is not excluded.

The Bergamo prosecutors are about to sum up the investigation in which some technicians from the Lombardy Region and Ats are charged with the crime of a culpable epidemic.

Investigation that concerns, in addition to the hospital in Alzano, also the failure to establish a red zone in the Bergamo area - where, as confirmed by the advice of the microbiologist Andrea Crisanti -, the virus had already been circulating for some time, until it spread to the failure to update the plan pandemic and the lack of application throughout the national territory of the existing one.

These latter chapters have involved, not only the registration for false information to the prosecutors of the former number two of the WHO Ranieri Guerra,
