A recent study examines the cause of death of corona deaths.
She comes to a clear conclusion.
Berlin – Critics of the corona measures* often question the number of deaths caused by the corona virus.
A study has now examined in more detail whether people died "from" or "with" Corona.
The study comes to a clear conclusion.
Accordingly, in 86 percent of the cases examined, a corona infection was responsible for death, according to the first report of the German Covid 19 autopsy register.
The report was published in the medical journal The Lancet Europe.
Corona: First report of the German Covid-19 autopsy register published
In April 2020, the German Covid-19 Autopsy Register (DeRegCOVID) was founded.
The first report from the register is the (so far) largest autopsy study in relation to Covid 19 diseases, according to Stefan Kluge, head of the intensive care clinic in Hamburg-Ependof, on Twitter.
In the study, 18,674 samples from 1,129 deceased were examined.
The individuals died between early March 2020 and late September 2021. However, only 1094 deaths were eligible for the study.
The samples came from 29 different locations in Germany.
Corona study: 86 percent of the dead died "of" Covid-19
The Corona study came to the conclusion that the Covid 19 disease was not the cause of death in only 14 percent of the deaths.
In the remaining 86 percent, death was the direct result of a corona infection.
A pulmonary hemorrhage often led to death.
But multi-organ failure was also a fatal consequence of the corona infection in the cases in the study.
699 of the examined dead were men.
The remaining 395 were women.
The study also concluded that most deaths occurred in the first two weeks after the first positive corona test, or after the first symptoms appeared.
