The Authority for Excellence and Creativity announced today the conditions and rules for applying for the National Robotic Championship that qualifies to participate in the WRO 2022 World Robot Olympiad.

Dr. Muhib Al-Naqari, the National Coordinator of the World Robot Olympiad, reviewed during a press conference held by the authority at the Rida Saeed Conference Center at the University of Damascus today the amendments made to the championship competitions and the conditions and rules for participation in each of them and for all approved age groups.

During the meeting, which was attended by trainers and heads of robot clubs in Syria, between Al-Naqri, that the tournament includes four competitions, the first (robot tasks) for three age groups, the primary category for ages 8 to 12 years for designing (a gardener robot) and the middle category for ages from 11 to 15 years for designing (a robot Rescue) and the upper category for ages from 14 to 19 years for the design of (Caring Robot).

The second is the (Future Creators) competition, which also includes, according to Al-Naqri, the three age groups (elementary, middle and upper) and was allocated to home, rescue and health care robots. For ages 11 to 19 years old.

Dr. Al-Naqari pointed out that the national championship is witnessing strong competition due to the increase in teams participating in it year after year, and it is expected that this year more than 150 teams from private robotics clubs, universities and NGOs will participate.

He explained that each club will choose the teams that will represent it in the tournament based on tests through which distinguished people are selected to participate, noting that the authority has taken upon itself the issue of training in robotic clubs in schools of outstanding students and will secure part of the equipment for robots.

Engineer Lynn Qassem, Director of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad at the Excellence and Creativity Commission, pointed out that the Commission, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, has opened 21 robot clubs within the schools of outstanding students in various governorates and is working to qualify robotic trainers through successive training courses with the aim of spreading the culture of artificial intelligence, robotics and programming, explaining that A central test will be held on the 26th of this month, the first of its kind, to select the teams that represent the schools of excellence in the national championship.

Dr. Yasser Noah, Director of Informatics at the Ministry of Education, pointed out that the opening of robotics clubs in a number of outstanding schools is a pioneering step to support creativity and innovation and motivate students to present distinguished ideas through which the robot can be directed towards performing multiple tasks that meet the requirements of the age, given that robotics combines mathematics, physics and informatics. and engineering.

The National Robotics Championship is scheduled to be held next August, and it qualifies for the World Robot Olympiad, which will be held in Germany in mid-November under the title (My Robot My Friend). National and World Championships.
