(ANSA) - CATANIA, 21 FEB - New 'acceleration' of the eruptive phase of Etna with an intense and spectacular 'fountain spreading' from the South-East crater.
A volcanic cloud also emerges from the 'vent' which has reached a height of 10 kilometers and which, on the basis of the forecast model, heads towards the South-East.
This is what emerges from the monitoring of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Etneo Observatory (Ingv-Oe), of Catania.
The values of the average amplitude of the tremor of the internal magma channels of the volcano are on very high levels and the centroid of the springs is located in the area of the Southeast crater at a height of about 2,800-2,900 meters above sea level.
The instruments of the Ingv-Oe of Catania also observe an increase in
infrasonic activity which is localized near the Bocca Nuova crater.
At the moment there are no significant changes in the deformation signals.
The Ingv has issued a red alert for the flight (Vona), but the international airport of Catania is operational.
