A Kaufland customer from Bremen was made to cry by an incident at the checkout.

Her photo and her complaint then made waves.

Bremen - "Nobody should cry because of us - that hurts their hearts when they read it." When a company like Kaufland writes something like this publicly, something must have gone terribly wrong beforehand.

And indeed, the supermarket made a customer from Bremen cry, according to her statement.

Kaufland: Customer from Bremen has to cry after the incident at the checkout

What happened?

The Kaufland customer named Miriam contacted the company via Twitter and described an incident.

"I was two cents short and had to return my Jagdwurst for 99 cents," she explains.

And asks who actually benefits from the cents from the “Round up, please!” campaign.

Background: Customers can round up to the next ten cent amount at the checkout in various supermarkets - the difference goes to the needy.

However, not in the bar on site.

The cashier in Kaufland apparently followed their rules.

And Miriam felt humiliated.

"The looks of the other customers hurt a lot too," she wrote a little later.

"I understand that when people have to look at their money, I have to do it myself, but the looks hurt a lot.

Out on the street I had to cry first.

But now I'm better."

Miriam goes on to say that she found two returnable cans for 50 cents at the bus stop on the same day.

“But Kaufland won’t get that.

Instead, I reward myself with a delicious roll at Penny's.

And let my tears run away with it.”

Kaufland: Complaint from a customer from Bremen causes discussions

The tweet drew a lot of reactions.

Many showed sympathy for Miriam.

Others pointed out that many cashiers keep a small bowl of cents ready so that such ugly situations do not arise.

Some are also cold: "I don't understand the problem, the post office won't send your letter either if you don't have the right stamp on it."

Kaufland responds to a complaint from a customer in Bremen

In any case, Kaufland shows a heart for the customer, asks for a direct message and agrees to discuss everything personally.

"Feel pressed by us afterwards," writes Kaufland's social media team.

And followed words with deeds: A good week later, the customer tweeted that she had received a voucher.

She is soothed: "Thank you very much, dear Kaufland team, you are great." A cheese was recently recalled from Kaufland.

On the other hand, a father made a frightening discovery when he wanted to prepare a pack of pan-fried vegetables from Kaufland* at home – the supermarket reacted immediately, as reported by Heidelberg24.de.
