Why choose an eco-responsible detergent?

Each French household consumes 40 kg of washing powder and 26 liters of liquid washing powder each year.

Paradoxically, most of these cleaning detergents are far from being clean because of their

chemical composition

: surfactants, enzymes, bleaching agents, synthetic perfumes... Even when passing through treatment plants, residues end up in the ocean, which is harmful to marine ecosystems.

Moreover, in recent decades, liquid detergents have taken over powder detergents, not without consequences:

rainbow

plastic cans , themselves derived from

petrochemicals

, have replaced cardboard barrels in the departments of supermarkets, but also in recycling centers and in nature

!

Certainly recyclable, they still have to be recycled, which is far from being the case.

Moreover, recycling is not endless: in the end, the plastic will end up at best in a very polluting incinerator or in the sea… again and again.

How to wash your laundry in an eco-responsible way?

Beyond choosing an ecological detergent, here are some habits to adopt to wash your laundry in a truly eco-responsible way:

- Opt for a washing machine that saves energy and water.

To find your way around, consult our selection of ecological washing machines.

- Properly maintain your washing machine to prevent clogging and breakdowns.

- Buy linen made of natural materials, which will avoid releasing microparticles of synthetic material into nature.

For example, organic and eco-responsible sheets from the brand A Demain!

- Do not overdose your detergent.

It won't wash better, but it will clog up your washing machine and scatter more laundry around.

- To save electricity and water, run your washing machine at full capacity.
