Have you recently received more net salary?

In case you're wondering, no, there was no payroll error.

That's behind it.

Taxes and social security contributions are deducted from the gross salary – what remains is the net salary.

But even if nothing changes in the gross income, it can happen that the net wage changes over time.

This is mostly due to changes in taxes and social security contributions.

Something happened here again at the turn of the year 2021/22*: Some employees may have noticed that a little more money ended up in the account.

You can find out exactly what has changed here.

Change on the pay slip: Less income tax for the gross salary

Legislative changes came into force this year that have brought a small plus to most employees' payslips.

In 2022, the

basic tax allowance was increased by 240 euros to 9,984 euros per year

, so that less wage tax is incurred on the gross salary.

: Corona bonus: Mini-jobbers can also benefit from the special payment.

As the IT service provider DATEV for tax consultants reports in a press release,

employees in medium and higher salary brackets

benefit

the most from

this – regardless of the tax bracket.

Singles with an income of 7,500 euros or more would receive over 304 euros more over the year.

But it looks even better for

single parents with a gross income of 7,500 or

more - they can look forward to 1,323 euros more per year.

Conversely, childless married people with a monthly salary of up to 2,000 euros even have to make do with slightly less net income because the childless supplement for long-term care insurance has been raised.

Also interesting

: Tax return: With these costs you get a lot of money back.

Taxes 2022: Legislators compensate for "cold progression".

In addition to the increase in the basic tax rate, the

basic values of the income tax rate

were increased by 1.17 percent.

This is intended to compensate for

the problem of

"cold progression" .

To understand: Due to inflation, employees do not have more money in their accounts in real terms, even if their salary increases.

Despite this, they would have to pay more taxes because of the progressive tax scale – which stipulates that as income rises, so does the tax rate.

Therefore, the legislature intervenes from time to time and adjusts the basic values of the tax rate.
