The controversy broke out over a tweet from the EU High Representative Josep Borrell yesterday.
"No more shopping in Milan, party in Saint Tropez, diamonds in Antwerp", is the summary in the tweet on the future of the recipients of the sanctions decided by the EU against the recognition of the republics of Donetsk and Lugansk by Russia.
"We unanimously agreed - writes Borrell - to respond in a robust manner to Russia's illegal actions against Ukraine. The EU sanctions package will hit 351 members of the Russian Duma who voted for the recognition of the so-called Lugansk People's Republics and of Donetsk ".
"Why - writes League MEP Zanni in a question - this reckless exit, and then the step back? Unfortunately it is not the first time that, with regard to the Russian-Ukrainian question, Borrell commits lightness and we all still have a vivid memory of humiliation he suffered in Moscow, mistreated by Minister Lavrov ".
