(ANSA) - RIO DE JANEIRO, FEBRUARY 24 - The number of victims of the floods following the heavy rains that hit the Brazilian city of Petropolis, in the mountainous region of the State of Rio de Janeiro on 15 February, has risen to 208.
Rescue teams are at work in areas covered by mud avalanches that have destroyed dozens of homes.
In the meantime, at least 51 people are still missing, according to the CBN radio.
The forecasts of the meteorological society Climatempo foresee the arrival of new precipitation in the area.
