(ANSA) - LONDON, FEBRUARY 24 - The United Kingdom condemns the military action undertaken by Moscow in Ukraine: the British prime minister, Boris Johnson, affirms that in a message he is "horrified" at what he defines as "an unprovoked attack".
President Vladimir Putin - Johnson denounces - "has chosen the path of bloodbath and destruction".
Johnson heard this morning from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky who updated him "on the ongoing attack" by Russia.
This was reported by a spokesman for Downing Street, adding that Johnson spoke of a "dark hour" for Ukraine, evoking a famous phrase by Winston Churchill.
The British Prime Minister immediately called, at 7.30 local time (8.30 in Italy), an extraordinary meeting of the Cobra committee dedicated to the "horrible events" taking place in Ukraine.
