The accident happened when masses of water flooded the cattle pasture: In New Zealand, a young bull survived a flood.
The animal was swept away by a river dozens of kilometers away, fell ten meters down a waterfall – and survived.
Farmer Tony Peacock, who owns the bull, reports the AFP news agency.
"It was still daylight when I realized how bad it was," Peacock said of the flooding earlier in the month.
At this point, the three cattle had already been swept away by the water masses.
"I never thought I'd see any of them again," said the farmer.
But a week later, Peacock got a call: one of his bulls had been found on a river bank in Westport - about 80 kilometers from his pasture.
School competition for the name of the bull
"It was a huge surprise," said Peacock, noting that the stud bull even survived the ten-meter fall at Maruia Falls.
The bull, identified by its ear tag, was taken back to its farm, the Guardian reports.
"We're keeping him, he's become a local legend now," said his owner.
The bull is "more famous than anything else we've ever produced."
A suitable name for the bull is now to be found in a school competition.
