Art begins with the metro entrances designed in 1899 by Hector Guimard, pure emanations of Art Nouveau with its curves and scrolls that include dragonflies, sprigs of lily of the valley, beetles.
It was not until 1978 that these shrines, which combine nature, Gothic art and the art of Japan, were protected as Historic Monuments.
