With the participation of 529 male and female students from the seventh and eighth grades of basic education in outstanding schools in various governorates, the Excellence and Creativity Authority, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, held tests to select the teams that will represent these schools in the 2022 National Robot Championship.
The media advisor at the Excellence and Creativity Authority Malik Hammoud explained in a statement to SANA that the students participating in the exams represented 10 schools for outstanding students in the governorates of Damascus and its countryside, Sweida, Homs, Aleppo, Lattakia and Tartous, indicating that these exams are held for the first time in coordination between the Scientific Olympiad Department in the Commission and the Ministry of Education, after the introduction of Robot sciences activity within the curriculum in outstanding schools and the opening of robotic clubs in them.
Hammoud pointed out that these clubs were supported with equipment and training supplies, and the Department of the Scientific Olympiad trained a number of cadres by the National Coordinator of the Robot Olympiad and an expert in robotics at the authority, explaining that the distinguished students will be selected from the schools of excellence to represent their school teams in this tournament.
Director of Informatics at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Yasser Noah, indicated that the opening of robotic clubs in a number of outstanding schools is a pioneering step to support creativity and innovation among students, noting the training the students received and their enthusiasm to participate in the exams.
Last Saturday, the Excellence and Creativity Authority announced the conditions and rules for applying for the National Robotic Championship, which qualifies to participate in the World Robot Olympiad.
The National Robotics Championship is scheduled to be held next August, and it qualifies for the World Robot Olympiad, which will be held in Germany in mid-November under the title (My Robot My Friend). National and World Championships.
