Aldi is one of the most successful discounters in the world, but there is now a change.

Aldi Nord is breaking new ground and is probably reacting to the loss of market share.

Although Aldi Süd has fewer branches than Aldi Nord, the retail giant makes more sales.

In terms of appearance, too, the branches appear more contemporary to many consumers than those in the north.

And Klaus Gehrig, former head of the Schwarz Group, which also includes Aldi's competitor Lidl, said in an interview that he meant Aldi Süd when he spoke of Aldi*.

A clear statement, which of the two chains in Germany has the edge.

But that could change now.

The reason: Aldi is remodeling!

For the third time in four years, Aldi Nord is breaking new ground and changing the look and structure of the branches.

For customers, this means that they also have to get used to a new arrangement of the shelves.

Until now, for example, fruit and vegetables could be found at the back, and promotional items in the entrance area (ANIKo concept).

In the near future, fruit and vegetables as well as fresh baked goods will be found in the entrance area, similar to Aldi Süd or Lidl.

HEIDELBERG24* reveals the details of Aldi Nord's plans.

Aldi Nord is remodeling again: these locations will soon look new

The conversion at Aldi Nord is taking place step by step and will first be tested at various Aldi locations in the distribution area, as Der Westen writes.

Accordingly, two branches in North Rhine-Westphalia should be affected, two in Lower Saxony and one in Schleswig-Holstein.

The exact locations are Werl, Radevormwald, Hannoversch Münden, Sievershausen and Nortorf.

It has not yet been confirmed whether further branches of Aldi Nord are to be converted, as stated on Chip.de.

But: The conversion of the locations is probably not the only change.

The logistics should also be changed.

The aim is to live up to the motto "Fresh choice meets cheap" more effectively.

Aldi Nord is rebuilding again: loss of market share a reason?

The reason for the renewed upheaval of the discounter probably lies in the lost market share.

Aldi Nord lost about one percent last year.

According to a forecast, further losses are expected in 2022.

The discounter giant cannot let this sit on itself and is now trying to take countermeasures.

The strategy at Aldi is actually to offer the same look* worldwide.

Customers should be able to find their way, no matter where they are.

In a ranking, Aldi is now in the top 10 of the world's largest discounters.

Behind the US retail giant Wal Mart, the Internet giant Amazon and the US chain Costco, Aldi ranks fourth as a group*.

So it's no wonder that new innovations can be tested again and again.

In Australia, for example, there is now a pizza bot at Aldi* that makes restaurant-like pizza.
