The CV is the entrance ticket to the job interview.
But how do I write the perfect CV in 2022?
And which mistakes don't work at all?
All on topic.
Do you have to write an application*?
Then it is best to start with your CV.
After all, the curriculum vitae (CV), as the CV is also known, is the heart of every application - and not without reason.
Structure: This is how your CV should be structured
The curriculum vitae gives HR professionals a precise overview of your educational qualifications, your professional experience and other experiences and knowledge that you have gained to date.
It is important that the CV is structured simply and clearly so that the most important points can be grasped quickly.
The reverse chronological structure
has prevailed for years
.
This means that the most recent work experience is mentioned first.
This is followed by studies or training, the school career and knowledge.
This has the advantage that
HR professionals see the most important information first
.
The following
structure
is recommended by career experts in 2022:
Personal information (name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, possibly blog/homepage)
work experience
further education
Internships / experience abroad / part-time jobs
Study education
Military or community service (if applicable)
school
languages
Knowledge (IT, possibly driving license, publications, etc.)
Interests / hobbies (optional)
You can find out more about the structure of a CV in this article.
Content: How to write the perfect CV in 2022
Personal Information
The CV begins with your personal information.
At the top, in a header, state your personal name and address as well as an
e-mail address
and
telephone number
where the recruiter can contact you.
Application photo
You can place a professional application photo in the upper right corner.
While this is not a must, many recruiters still like to see who they are dealing with.
Here you can find out what you should pay attention to.
Professional background
This is followed by the professional career - in reverse chronological order.
So start with the last or current job.
First state the
period of time (month/year)
and the company in which you worked, which position you held and describe your tasks in a few short key points.
Like this:
12/2018-01/2022 Job title
company XY, location
- task 1
- task 2
- task 3
Further training, internships, part-time jobs
This is followed by relevant further training as well as internships and part-time jobs, provided these still play a role in your career level.
education, study and school
Now comes the section on
school and vocational training or studies
.
Start with the dates of your training or your studies (month/year), followed by the data on your school career.
If you have achieved a particularly good degree (grade: very good), you can also name the final grade - this will impress the HR team.
knowledge and skills
The last part contains information on knowledge and skills - such as foreign languages, software skills or - where required - also the driver's license class.
If you speak a
foreign language
, you should always state how well you speak the language.
Typical formulations for this are:
Native language / native speaker level
Business fluent in word and writing
Fluent / Very good knowledge of spoken and written
Good verbal and written skills
Basic knowledge / school knowledge
In this article* you can find out what “good English skills” mean, how you can assess your language skills yourself and correctly state your language level in your CV.
Hobbys and Interests
As a last point, you can also indicate hobbies and interests.
However, the experts disagree on this point.
However, there is a big advantage in always stating your hobbies.
In any case, make sure to indicate the "correct" hobbies.
You can find out what these are here.
