2022-02-28T11:48:43.520Z

The curfew had been in effect since January 1, after a sharp deterioration in the health situation on the island.

As in France, which dropped the mask indoors on Monday, a large part of the health restrictions taken to slow the spread of Covid have been lifted on the island of Reunion.

They had been in effect since January 1.

The following are therefore lifted: the curfew which was imposed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., the wearing of masks outdoors, as well as the gauges reducing the number of people welcomed in stadiums, bars and restaurants, where tables had been limited to six guests for two months.

However, you must always consume it sitting down.

Similarly, children are no longer asked to wear the mask in the playground.

As of Monday February 22, the incidence rate (number of contaminations per 100,000 inhabitants) was 1,592 and the intensive care unit occupancy rate was 82.4%.

It was 90% on January 1 when the restrictions were taken as part of the state of health emergency.

It was even on the island that the first French case of Omicron had been identified.

Currently, 40 of the 108 intensive care beds are occupied by patients infected with Covid-19.

Since the beginning of February, the health situation on the island has continued to improve.

If this trend is confirmed, the prefect will order the reopening of nightclubs in early March and allow standing concerts to take place.

For the moment, no date has been announced to consider removing the mask in places subject to the vaccination pass, nor to allow cruise ships to stop again in Reunion.
