Disappointment from failure is an understandable human trait.

We all fail at the things we do, more or less excited.

One thing can really upset us - when we fail at something we are supposed to be really good at.

A doctor may not choose the right dishwashing liquid in the super, but it will not sadden him like a failed surgery.

A footballer may become the joke of the evening if he fakes a karaoke party, however this will not affect him like missing a penalty in a game on Saturday.

And I?

I know how to eat in quantities.

This is my innate talent.

Give me a piece of steak wherever it is and I will not leave a gram, put two pizza trays in front of my eyes and they will disappear in the blink of an eye.

I sincerely believe that "Eat as much as you can" restaurants lose as soon as my footsteps step on them.

Pita for me is a warm-up for Lapa, the dish that will beat me was not born, certainly not when it comes to street food.

At least that's what I thought, until I got a decent slap in the face from Tamir's schnitzel.

More on Walla!

Then I paid 83 shekels for shawarma and a drink and something in me broke

Tamir's schnitzel.

A dish that defeats you (Photo: Walla! NEWS system, Yael Laor)

Tamir's Schnitzel is an old Givatayim institution that stood in a neglected stand near the Wahlin House in the city, closed, moved to the main Katzenelson Street and returned in recent years in an improved version to its quarry in the south of the city - Diaspora Israel Street in the heart of the Korazin industrial zone.

As a resident of Givatayim for almost a decade I never bothered to visit him.

First, because I have a deep distrust of the culinary symbols of the city, which claims to be Tel Aviv but the restaurant kitchens in it are still very far from narrowing the gap.

Second, because what do I have to do in this sweaty compound, that I do not work or live in close proximity to?

And finally, I always have in front of my eyes the well-known and ancient folk law that every person should memorize and adopt - "If you fancy a schnitzel, screw up shawarma".

But Tamir's schnitzel really aroused curiosity the day I passed Korzin (do not ask why, I have no excuse to put your mind at ease) and the reason for this is very prosaic - outside sat a group of four young people, next to each dish a golden, fresh and inviting French fries.

When I looked up at Merrier I peeked inside and saw the queue.

The place called "Come" and this invitation could not be refused.

The options are pretty routine - schnitzel on a plate, pita or baguette.

Of course the big eyes flowed with the direction of a plate, but in an unexpected fit of logic I went for the baguette.

To me French bread is a great enemy of a lot of meaty dishes, but it dresses excellently on schnitzel or kebab.

When the dish came out I watched her defeated from the first moment.

Mountains of schnitzels were pushed, against all the laws of physics, into the baguette.

There was something there with a total weight of a pound, in my opinion, and that was before the (free) salads and chips on the side.

It was a lust for the eyes.

And that's before the salads and toppings.

It's time to taste.

To say it was wow?

No.

The schnitzel is good, certainly not taken out of a bag of frozen (you might be surprised, but there are quite a few businesses that do this and disqualify themselves forever).

However, I can not say that I fell for the quality.

It is good, not amazing, and elsewhere, even in Givatayim - Nelson, for example - you will find schnitzel fried more accurately.

Most of you probably do not judge quality alone, as quantity is not an independent measure.

The question of overall value is more relevant than ever, especially on days when the cost of living has already shattered every possible glass ceiling.

Therefore, going back to the starting point of this text, then I could not complete the baguette as a whole, I was left with about a quarter of a portion in my hand, even though I enjoyed it.

It was both discouraging and encouraging.

This combo - a baguette bursting with schnitzel + a decent plate of chips + a bottle of Cola Zero - was not only delicious, it also cost me 43 shekels.

I will just mention that today shawarma in pita costs more, and there are quite a few places where you will have to add a few shekels to French fries.

This is how you fight the cost of living.

Tamir's schnitzel, besides being a mythological eatery, also produces an encouraging line for anyone who is fed up with the overly expensive prices that have attacked us.

There they have not heard of inflation and do not recognize the rise in the cost of living.

The name of the place goes before it thanks to the huge dish, and not in vain.

To the connoisseurs among us this may be a hint that quantity overshadows quality, but sometimes the cigar is simply a cigar.

Put this equation in front of your eyes: good schnitzel + large quantity + excellent price produce one of the most affordable fast food meals in Givatayim, and perhaps in every Gush Dan.
