While the curve of new infections from Covid-19 in Italy confirms the downward trend underway for a few weeks, there is a significant easing of the measures relating to international travel and from tomorrow, March 1, it will be easier to travel.

In fact, the ordinance of the Ministry of Health which provides for the stop to quarantine from non-EU countries enters into force.

The ordinance of Minister Roberto Speranza provides, starting precisely from March 1st, for arrivals from all non-European countries the same rules already in force for European countries.

One of the conditions of the basic green pass will therefore be sufficient for entry into the national territory: vaccination certificate, recovery certificate or negative test.

Only in case of non-presentation of one of these certifications, the quarantine measure will be applied at the address indicated in the digital Passenger Locator Form, for a period of 5 days, with the obligation to undergo a molecular or antigenic test, carried out for tampon medium, at the end of this period.

The certifications can be exhibited in digital or paper format and children under the age of six are exempt from

carrying out the molecular or antigen test.

A measure that will favor circulation in a context of 'cooling' of the pandemic, in Italy as in various other countries.

In fact, the occupancy rate of beds for Covid patients remains stable, without new peaks, both in intensive care and in hospital wards in the medical area.

According to data from Agenas monitoring (National Agency of Regional Health Services), relating to February 27 and published today, the employment of intensive care by Covid patients is stopped at 8% and, to exceed the alert threshold of 10 %, are Marche (11%), Sardinia (12%) and Lazio (13%).

While the occupancy of places in non-critical area hospital wards remains at 17% and all regions or autonomous provinces exceed the alert threshold of 15%, except Emilia Romagna, Lombardy, Molise, Pa Trento, Pa Trento, Piedmont and Veneto .

And the numbers of the daily bulletin of the Ministry of Health still indicate a decline in new cases: there are 17,981 new infections from Covid in the last 24 hours (yesterday there were 30,629), while the number of victims is still high, being equal to 207 ( yesterday 144).

The positivity rate is 9%, down from 9.6% yesterday.

On the other hand, there are 714 patients admitted to intensive care, 19 fewer than yesterday, and 10,851 hospitalized patients with symptoms in the ordinary wards, or 17 fewer.

In this context, the incidence of positive cases for the Sars-CoV-2 virus is in a phase of stasis in 16 provinces, according to the analysis of the mathematician Giovanni Sebastiani, of the Institute for the Applications of Calculus 'M. Picone' of the Council National Research Institute (Cnr).

Moreover,

Meanwhile, the Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa) has published the fifth report on the monitoring of antivirals for Covid-19 therapy.

There were 7,282, up to 24 February, the treatments started with the antiviral pill molnupiravir by Merck (MSD in Italy) while those started for Paxlovid by Pfizer were 912, for a total of 8,194 Covid patients treated at home with antivirals which are taken orally.

In particular, for Paxlovid, authorized only from the beginning of February, the prescriptions from February 17 to 23 were 572 with a weekly increase of almost 54%.

In the same period of time, the new prescriptions of molnupiravir (Lagevrio) are instead 949, down by about 10% compared to the previous week.
