Clinton and Madonna also watched the sea from here: our souls in the celebs' hotel in Tel Aviv

Winter is the hardest time for hotels in the country, of course the pool and the sea are out of the game.

The David Intercontinental Tel Aviv uses their existing raw materials - a jaw-dropping view from the room, a free tour of nearby Neve Tzedek, tai chi and a fusion treatment at the spa - to make a rainy weekend worth a vacation

Some people go on vacation for the heat of the desert, others prefer to see from their B&B the green of the north.

But especially in winter you may understand that even the blue of the sea seen from the window of the hotel room - he drowned in all its glory.

David Intercontinental Tel Aviv is in an excellent location for this purpose.

Well, the same can be said for any hotel on the city's beach, but

David

a

Intercontinental (hereinafter MDA), overlooks on the one hand the Mediterranean Sea, the Hassan Bek Mosque and Old Jaffa, and on the other hand the historic houses of Neve Tzedek, the Manshiyah neighborhood and the skyscrapers Beyond. Old inside new, tall inside low, renewal alongside preservation, luxury alongside simplicity. That's the story.

Work with the available raw materials

Winter is the hardest time of our country's hotels - after all, cold, sea / pool are less relevant and there are almost no vacations.

Add to that the damn corona that kept tourists away from here until recently, and you get pretty empty hotels in the end.

But then come the concept packages of the big hotel chains, for example the Dan hotel chain which offers performances and chef meals at some of its hotels.

MDA, which is currently the only hotel in Israel of the global hotel group InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), went for a double package that includes two pampering days with what the hotel has to offer. The spa, Neve Tzedek, the hotel chef who does Tai Chi classes, the hotel's built-in galleries and ... the winning view of a winter sea full of waves and surfers.

And the galleries are something inseparable from the hotel.

To the right of the lobby you can enjoy works of art, sculptures, photographs and paintings and more at the Corridor Gallery which for two decades has been displaying rotating collections of modern art, reopening in September 2021. Immediately followed by another gallery, Tribes ("Tribes"), which houses equally beautiful paintings by Kadishman and others.

A tour of the galleries is free of charge for hotel guests.

After the visit, MDA offers wine tastings every Friday afternoon at the Golan Heights Wineries.

What's going on in the "Tel Aviv Suite"?

The David Intercontinental has 25 floors spread over 555 rooms, of which 39 are suites, including two presidential.

In one of them, "Tel Aviv Suite", I also visited for a moment.

The hotel people enjoy boasting about the resumes of our celebs in it, like Bill Clinton, Madonna and others, but at Tekel's - no one needs a conference room inside their room, certainly not you.

Yes, it's very nice, but here I have saved you $ 3,500 - the price of a night in this huge room with a large bed, a marble bathroom and of course the same view that is also available at more modest prices.

Compared to the Presidential Suite, you can relax for the price (which is also not cheap, but more affordable) in the 21st-floor "Madriana" suite, which has a separate living room, a marble bathroom and a spacious bed to the sea for $ 1,435.

There are also cheaper rooms, so you can adjust your weekend to a lower budget, for example starting at NIS 1,865 for a couple for bed and breakfast and NIS 2,525 for a couple for half board, which is really not worth it - take the difference of this 700 shekels and go out In the evening to the best restaurant in Tel Aviv.

Understand that you are a small comma compared to nature

What's fun in Tel Aviv and other cities located on the beach, is also waking up in front of this huge blue.

Pull back the curtain and the night and look at the sea from above, not condescendingly God forbid, but understand that you are such a small comma compared to nature, even if it is urban.

The traditional and kosher breakfast at the "Jaffa Yards" restaurant, which is a kind of open hall that blends in with the lobby and galleries - it is definitely convenient that everything is in one place and still not too crowded.

Buffet dishes include the familiar geranium, a selection of salads, pastries, breads and donuts that Chef Alfred Yavnisk trusts.

Overall a good meal, not plentiful selection and variety of salads, and the juices were also industrial.

It is possible in such a luxury hotel to make a little effort and bring an orange juicer, since Jaffa oranges would blend in great with the "Jaffa Yards", right?

Great abundance in fruits, less in salads.

Tour and ice cream to finish

After breakfast, MDA invites you for a free guided tour of nearby Neve Tzedek - the first neighborhood of Tel Aviv, or as Naama was instructed by the hotel - which is not really the city's first neighborhood, since Neve Tzedek was established in 1887 and Tel Aviv only 1909. Right, what to do The two-hour tour passes between the old houses of the chic neighborhood today, which undergoes a process of preservation and renewal, between economic changes of the new Tel Avivians and the old ones and spiced with interesting stories and anecdotes about its former residents (SY Agnon ) And in the present (Gal Gadot).

At the end, you will arrive at the ice cream parlor and choose a ball for a sweet finish, also at the hotel's expense.

A holistic experience, anyone?

A proper winter vacation will always be upgraded with spa treatment.

MDA has THE Spa - that is, not "the spa", but rather acronyms for

T

ailor-Made

H

olistic

E

xperience - ("a holistic experience that suits you"). Here too you will find the familiar Swedish massage and others, but in the meter It is called "fusion", and according to the receptionist's explanation it is a combination of several massage techniques.

Indeed, the excellent masseuse Hannah was amazed at a different and special massage, which included all body parts combined with a good SABON oil, for the massager to choose from.

The recovery room at the end of the treatment contained a selection of cookies and herbal tea, as well as an excellent coffee machine with a selection of about 20 types of coffee / mocha / chocolate of various kinds.

Beyond that, this is the first time I got white spa slippers, made from such a towel material, that contained all my legs in size 47. What fun.

How much will it cost?

50-minute treatment for NIS 370 at midnight, NIS 430 at the weekend.

There is also deep tissue for NIS 440 and hot stones for NIS 550 on weekends.

They took the traditional Swedish massage, and turned it into a fusion.

In contrast to the blossoming of Tel Aviv's new boutique hotels, David Intercontinental Tel Aviv has something different, which is good.

Although it has only existed for a little over two decades, it inspires a luxurious feel of old hotels, such as the Hilton and Dan Tel Aviv.

Maybe it's something in the old wooden furniture, maybe in the large spaces of the lobby, art galleries and the audience that is older, established and mostly from abroad. -Bluetooth in the rooms, probably in the suites, and maybe even take care of a heated pool and a hot tub in the winter, since it's quite a must on a winter vacation. However, sometimes you can just stay in the room, watch the endless sea and do nothing
