The City of Lugano, Switzerland and Tether Operations Limited are committed to creating a European center of excellence for the adoption of blockchain technology and Bitcoin.
The collaboration aims to encourage the adoption of blockchain technology at the local level and allow its citizens to pay taxes, fees and any public taxes, for goods and for all services provided, through Bitcoin, Tether or stablecoins based on the Swiss Franc.
Lugano and Tether have signed a memorandum of understanding for a strategic collaboration that will give rise to numerous initiatives, including the creation of a specialized hub, financed by the big corporations of this industry, located in the city center, to host companies and start-ups. , facilitating the establishment and conduct of daily activities, and which can act as a catalyst for everything related to the blockchain.
Lugano aims to become a home for the crypto community as an ideal place to live and work;
location where the latter can grow and thrive.
An important number of scholarships will also be funded to allow the growth of skills in the blockchain field, favoring the creation of training courses in collaboration with academic institutes and research centers.
Projects aimed at facilitating and supporting blockchain-based solutions for the public administration will be promoted using Lugano as an urban laboratory and incubator of innovative solutions.
There will also be organized training / informative events and moments;
a first international event will be held in October this year, entitled Bitcoin World Forum.
