The end of the home office obligation in 2022 is approaching.

Employees have to go back to the office in many places - although many employees would like something else.

Companies are obliged by the Infection Protection Act to offer their employees home offices wherever possible.

In the past pandemic waves, the

home office*

obligation

was intended to reduce the number of infections with the corona virus both at work and on the way to work.

However, this regulation, like other far-reaching protective measures, will now be abolished again.

The home office obligation on the part of companies

ends on March 19, 2022

At the prime ministers' conference on February 16, the federal and state governments decided not to extend the home office rule any further.

Provided that the development of the pandemic allows this.

From March 20th, many employees will therefore have to go back to the office.

Unless the employer provides a different home office regulation.

Employers can give their employees the decision

According to a report by the German Press Agency (dpa), continue to offer home office

if there are no operational reasons against it and it seems necessary because of Corona - for example in open-plan offices".

Every sixth employee would like to have a home office

According to dpa, 37 percent of companies are planning models that provide for

three days of home office per week

.

This should also be urgently needed, because many employees have learned to appreciate the advantages of working from home during the pandemic.

According to a current Forsa survey commissioned by the career network Xing

, every sixth employee would like to be able to work from home even after the end of the home office obligation

.

17 percent would even like to work permanently in the home office.

14 percent of those surveyed would like to spend at least three quarters of their working hours in the home office.

The newspapers of the Funke media group reported on the survey.
