Goat pursues suspect - and helps police to catch him

In the US state of Virginia, a suspect recently fled from the police.

However, he reckoned without a goat helping to catch the man.

Henry County, Virginia - A wild car chase broke out in Henry County recently.

Thanks to the heroic efforts of a goat named Gracie, the suspect is eventually tracked down and arrested by two deputy sheriffs.

But how did this use of animals come about?

Deputy David Parnell is investigating a domestic violence case in the Fieldale area when he comes across a suspect and questions him.

"By the point Deputy Parnell tells the suspect he's under arrest, he flees on foot," Captain Scott Barker of the Henry County Sheriff's Office told the Martinsville Bulletin.

Parnell immediately gives chase.

A billy goat recently made himself comfortable in an emergency vehicle* because he loves driving.

Thanks to the heroic efforts of Gracie the Goat, Deputy Parnell is able to apprehend the suspect.

The man flees across country over a fence, Deputy Parnell behind.

But in the middle of the field, to his surprise, the officer suddenly receives animal support.

"A goat from the property joined Deputy Parnell," Barker continued.

Together they continue chasing the suspect across the field until they reach another fence.

The goat easily overcomes this and continues the pursuit.

Then Parnell watches from a distance as the goat drives the man into a wooded area.

On the other side of the forest, a second deputy sheriff is already waiting to help the goat corner the man and chase him out of the forest again.

There he is received by Parnell and finally arrested.

After the chase is over, officers take Gracie the goat back to her owner, and the Sheriff's Office thanks her again for her heroic efforts in a Facebook post.

Gracie definitely deserves an extra large portion of hay for that.
