An 87-year-old walker was hit and killed by the shock wave of a landing rescue helicopter in Plymouth, southern England.

An 80-year-old was taken to hospital with a broken hip, police said.

She was hit in her car by a slammed car door from the gust of wind.

The British Coast Guard helicopter landed on the landing pad of a hospital in Plymouth in the morning with one injured person on board, according to the police.

The 87-year-old, while walking on a nearby footpath, was swept away by the airflow created by the helicopter landing.

She died a little later in the hospital from her head injuries.
