This was underlined by the mayor of Mariupol,
Vadym Boichenko
, in a brief statement released this morning after the announcement of the truce by Moscow to allow humanitarian corridors.

"Dear, dear residents of Mariupol, the evacuation of civilians in the city begins today. This is not an easy decision, but as I have always said, Mariupol is not a collection of streets and houses. Mariupol is its inhabitants. We are. you and me ", added the mayor.
"Our main task is and always has been to protect people. In conditions that see our city constantly under the merciless fire of the occupiers, there is no other solution than to enable the residents, that is, you and me, to leave. Mariupol in safety ".
