The number of refugees fleeing the Russian invasion could potentially reach 1.5 million by this weekend.

This was stated by the head of the United Nations refugee agency, Filippo Grandi.

Currently, the UN estimates that more than 1.3 million people have already left Ukraine.

"This is the fastest refugee crisis we have seen in Europe since the end of World War II," Grandi said according to the Guardian.

11,323 Ukrainian citizens have entered Italy so far since the beginning of the conflict, mainly through the land border at the Italian-Slovenian border (where 6,867 entries have been registered): 5,620 women, 1,198 men and 4,505 minors.

These are the data provided by the Interior Ministry and updated at 8 am today, according to which it emerges that in 24 hours the new entrances were about 2,265.

The main destinations are Rome, Milan, Bologna and Naples, where family members and acquaintances already present in Italy are reached.
