However, this was sometimes quite tedious, for example when your best friend sent a 20-minute voice message.

Anyone who wanted to read what other contacts had written at the same time had to wait or cancel the voice message and start again later.

However, the messenger now allows users to leave the chat with the voice message and click on others.

At the same time you can see a blue bar at the top of the screen, which indicates that the voice message is still running.

Both the speaker's name and a thin black line showing the progress of the recording can be seen there.

WhatsApp brings long-awaited function – but it harbors “dangers”

As handy as the new WhatsApp* feature is, it can also bring some problems.

If you're not exactly capable of multitasking, you could possibly make a typing error when listening to the voice message and composing an answer in another chat.

There could also be confusion.

If you only look briefly at the chat partner's display and accidentally look at the blue bar instead of the actual contact, you could quickly get confused.

This could sometimes lead to embarrassing news.

Above all: When the voice message is over, the blue bar does not disappear by itself.

It persists even if you close and reopen the app.

You have to remove it manually by clicking on a small white cross or by switching to the chat where the recording came from.

WhatsApp offers numerous additional functions that many users are not even aware of.
