End to wait.

Of all the things that are clearly missing in Israel (seasons, cupcakes, bath and buddy works, and that's just a quick retrieval and without thinking too much), the most I crave on Road Trip.

You know, a real car, satellite radio and spaces to sail in a foreign language.

To all the columns of "eating go"

and not just auto, and radio, and spaces, and language, but also food stops that interrupt the road and turn it from just a road into a piece of trip.

Forgetful but memorable diners, gas stations with greater supply than any blue-and-white food court, fast-food chains that care, and fried chicken.

Because here, with all the love and sympathy and local-patriotism, there is not enough road, and there are too many barriers and boundaries, and too few joy chickens between them.

Therefore, we did the closest thing possible - we drew a 40-kilometer line under pressure between Tel Aviv and Bitan Aharon, and got into the car.

80 minutes and at least 40 traffic jams later, we reached our destination.

Yes, it's all for chicken, and how much was it worth.

Most of all they wanted chicken.

And most specifically - fried chicken.

And really specific - Fried Chicken like in London, Chick N 'Sours Style

The good people of "Lucky Chicken" (Shahar Bohdana, Shalio Nachman and Yoel Leviathan) have been around the Israeli food world for years, and the world in general.

There were ideas, there were initiatives and there were all sorts of attempts, but most of all they wanted chicken.

And most specifically - fried chicken.

And really specific - Fried Chicken like in London, Chick N 'Sours Style.

This is not an unusual departure in its cosmopolitanism, nor is it an adventurous and risky import.

The Israelis are dying for chicken and schnitzel addicts, wondering why KFC did not succeed here then and looking back to see if its current retirement has already come close enough to their home.

There are also those who have been making real Fried Chicken here for years and there are places that have raised the bar even more during the Corona period, but both of these, it was felt here, are doing so as part of the overall menu, something else to choose from.

Something good, excellent even in some cases, but not the heart of the matter.

And the heart, as usual, is the heart of the matter.

The extras wing, something that is nothing more than a forced passerby in a lot of places, deserves its own mention

Lucky Chicken's menu initially deters with bright colors and temptations that call to you from every good part, but focused and clear explanations help to arrange everything in your head, and land you on the ground with a simple order - everything from just about anything.

The first part of the menu is actually four versions of crispy chicken in a brioche bun (and another vegetarian, cauliflower-based variation).

From there, you can continue to the wings ("Nike" with dip for dipping or those that are already sautéed with sauce) and to the tanders (chunks of crispy chicken fillet), or to the chicken sausage, which is also crispy of course.

"The toppings section, something that is nothing more than a forced passerby in a lot of places, deserves its own mention, with options for chips of course, but also for happier and more original celebrations, in the form of fried corn ribs, coleslaw and kimchi, rice noodles also added to boiling oil." Caesar Flower Pot "(which is a fun sponsor in a huge glass), and also an okra crispy.

True to our initial instinct, we opened a table, then expanded it.

First, the thing itself - "Lucky Chicken" sandwich (52 shekels, 70 at a meal with toppings and drinks), which is the classic sandwich option (there is also "El Ch" Apo "which attracts to Mexico, for example, and also a more American version, and one Asian-hot) loads on a soft and fresh brioche bun homemade aioli, cucumber and pickled onion, lettuce and cheddar cheese. The slice itself - fried twice, thick and bursting out of the bun - settles Between all of these, and completes a tremendous

bite. And what's awesome, actually? A bit of brioche softness, a lot of crispiness but a minimum of unnecessary oiliness, considerable juiciness and additives that can quietly get into the Oscar talk for supporting actors.

The salted caramel scene has clearly gone through a lot in recent years, and in a negative section of course.

Here she can start her comeback upstairs

further.

Wings in salted caramel with tograshi powder (32 shekels for 6 units, 54 for 12) were initially perceived as a gimmick that should be tried and then written on it as a gimmick.

A few minutes later, finger licks and all, it became clear that our perceptions and stigmas needed to be refreshed.

The sauce was caramelized but balanced, and somehow not sweet.

He neither flooded nor weighed, but wrapped, floated, contained.

Here she can start her comeback upstairs.

The vans (four for forty shekels with a dip of choice and a celery stick, six for 52) erased everything we were used to thinking about the Nuggets family, and rebooted the system.

These are thick, dignified, large chunks of chicken, a mediocre version of what is put here in the sandwiches, enjoying an orchestra of rhythm instruments in the form of wonderful dipping sauces, all prepared on the spot and impressive in execution.

There's a BBQ or Deep Louisiana with a slightly smoky Americana vibe, a deep Caesar and a sharp ranch, excellent peanut butter and subdued blue cheese.

Dipping chicken, dipping celery, and before you know what's going on here, you start dipping your fingers too.

Memories from America.

Happy hour.

Lucky Chicken from "Lucky Chicken" (Photo: Walla !, Yaniv Granot)

The meal was very serious in terms of level of professionalism, meticulous in details and uncompromising, but also, at the same time and without hurting all of the above, pure fun

Apart from these - and on the verge of insufficiency - we also tried "Caesar Sausage" (chicken sausage in a crispy coating in a pot of lettuce leaves and celery sticks with a deep dip of Caesar sauce, 46 shekels) which also showed impressive crispiness without oiliness, and memories of American fairs with Koren-Doug stalls.

There were also solid fries, the same fun corn "ribs" and an original grind in the form of crispy okra.

There was also "Lucky Soda" (a syrup made instead of squeezed lemon juice, sugar, celery leaves and soda, NIS 10) and a happy version with gin (NIS 24) that threw us off all the steps of "what to drink", and there was also "Bang Bang" , The only dessert served here, which is a soft cookie dough, in a small pan that is put in the oven after ordering, and you get vanilla ice cream, a little maple and a rooster candy as before (18 shekels), but you can stop at a "cookie that just came out of the oven", right?

All of these completed a meal that was very serious in terms of the level of specialization and professionalism, meticulous in details and uncompromising, but also, at the same time and without hurting all of the above, pure fun.

A first look, from the side and from a distance, examines "Lucky Chicken" and dismisses it all in "another chicken fast food stand".

It may be nice along the way, but let's not exaggerate with expectations.

A closer look, inside and out, makes clear how important it is not to be tempted by labels and tags, how much work is invested in each chicken, in each dip, and how high “low” food can be, if the right people mess with it.

So, simply put, put on gas, put on Wise, put on music, and go on a road trip.

There is no more abroad than in Israel.
