Kate Moss, Mick Jagger, Andy Warhol... all the icons of pop culture have passed through the lens of David Bailey.
Among them, Lady Di, whose unpublished portrait has just been unveiled as part of the
Life Through a Royal Lens
exhibition , until October 30 at Kensington Palace (London).
A black and white photograph, taken in 1988 at the request of the Princess of Wales, remained in the photographer's archives for 34 years.

Royal family in photography
As reported by the CNN site, Lady Diana had herself chosen David Bailey for the character and the strength of his images.
This exhibition also aims to show how attached the royal family is to the art of photography.
In a statement, Claudia Acott Williams, curator of Historic Royal Palaces, explains how “this medium has shaped the way the world views the British monarchy”.
And to add: “It has allowed the royal family to offer a fascinating insight into their life and work, transforming the royal image and creating an unprecedented relationship between the crown and the subjects.”

Several members of the royal family have thus lent themselves to the game of the photo shoot with David Bailey.
This is the case of Queen Elizabeth II, captured by the photographer in 2014, for an official portrait on the occasion of her 88th birthday.
Pearl necklace, diamond brooch and radiant smile, she appears resplendent there.
