The 57th edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico opens tomorrow with an individual time trial of 13.9 kilometers in Lido di Camaiore (Lucca), which includes seven stages, until 13 March.
Among the main contenders for the final victory, the reigning champion Tadej Pogacar, fresh winner of the Strade Bianche and winner of the UAE Tour. Italians Damiano Caruso, Giulio Ciccone, Filippo Ganna and Elia Viviani.
"Tomorrow I will give everything in the time trial, then let's see how it goes - said the Olympian Ganna on the eve -. For the rest we have great captains like Richard Carapaz and Richie Porte and we will be at their service. For the team climb there are stronger riders. I don't think I would be able to follow a rider like Pogacar. I hope that after the Strade Bianche he is a bit tired ", added the blue.
"It is a very important race to measure myself against the great champions - the words of Ciccone -, my condition is not bad but it is not easy to compete with Pogacar. I want to take advantage of this race to do well and prepare for the following goals".
Slovenian Pogacar is curious to confront Evenepoel in a stage race: "I expect that in tomorrow's time trial he will be among the best. We will then see what will happen on the climbs, where he has proven to be competitive - he stressed -. Our team it gets stronger year after year but I don't think there is any fear of us in the group ".
