There is no holiday more bitter and joyful than Purim, once a year that allows us to let go of inhibitions and surrender to the colorful and creative sides of us that do not see enough light in the busy routine of life.

Purim is not the time for proportionality or minimalism, have mercy on us, but to run over the biblical code dictates to go all the way and in a big way - as grandiose, bold or ornate as possible and with an emphasis on originality, when the really great skill is to know unique pieces that can serve us later in the year Whether we choose a complex costume from head to toe or settle for some cool accessories to decorate, we certainly would not want to come across a look alike on the dance floor at the most worthwhile Purim party in town. Routines that can satisfy the wildest or most original costume fantasy you can think of.

If you want to put on a costume with an out-of-this-world style (literally) you should know Arketa Boutique - a concept store that aims to inspire and motivate people. And large props from life that look like a hybrid between enchanted animals and semi-human beings, something between punk and midburn (desert parties), between the aliens and Lady Gaga-style angels in its wild times

Original period costumes from days gone by

The chance that you will win a costume contest if you arrive in an original antique costume from the collections of the Golden Doll is very great.

This is a theatrical vintage store located in Haifa and well worth the trip.

On the gallery floor there is a costume warehouse that functions all year round and serves productions, theaters, movies and plays, and on Purim all this treasure is for rent to adults only.

In the shop you can find costumes consisting of vintage clothing items and some antiques purchased from theaters around the world, such as a Romanian policeman suit from 1980 or a Dracula robe from the Budapest Theater.

These are authentic costumes that sometimes cost thousands of shekels, while renting a full costume (which includes a period hat or inflatable crinoline) will cost between 200 and 250 shekels.

At the Golden Doll we discovered another costume genre that is suitable for Purim and is called "Steampunk" - clothing systems that combine the Victorian period with the steam era and the Midbar festivals, with angry Max and Charlie style characters in the chocolate kingdom.

Gothic, hammer and everything alternative

NOX Boutique was established in 2005 and in the early years specialized in alternative fashion,

hammer, gothic, rock and in short everything that is not mainstream.

Over the years, additional styles have been added, especially women's clothing in cuts inspired by the 30s, 40s and 50s. The boutique carries various labels as well as an original noxious design by owner Dana Barak that also includes custom sewing.

In the hammer department, you can find unique items that will make a great jaw-dropping costume for Purim - lots of corsets, vinyl and spandex dripping with a hammer-Goth vibe from afar.

The price range in the hammer department is NIS 160-700.

The aesthetics of humanity doulas

The exaggerated-perfect combination of the dark world of punk-goth fashion and the intense, childish colors and overload of Japanese harjoku fashion is embodied in a crazy mess at the Miss Sunshine TLV store, which has been at the forefront of alternative fashion in Israel for the past seven years.

Every year before Purim, the store is decorated with unique and original colors that take us back a bit to the cheerful eighties and nineties, and you can find (actually put together) super original Purim costumes, as well as special complements for each show.

In addition to clothing, costumes and accessories galore, you can also find hair extensions and colors in the store and even renew with a tattoo or piercing along the way.

Sheinkin 5, Tel Aviv and the online store

Opening hours:

Sunday-Thursday 11: 00-19: 00 / Friday 11: 00-15: 30

Colorful costumes as well as insane completions.

If we stay in the puppet concept districts, the Bitch Please scene is the place to find over-the-top clothing items with unapologetic sex appeal that will allow for a bold Purim show train, and can even be used later as a complement to an evening look with a unique twist.

These are bold clothes and accessories, some of them genderless, which are actually meant for live 'dolls' (DOLZ), exaggerated and ornate meaning is the talk: bright colors and shiny fabrics, often cleavage, tight it mast but also oversize, the anime vibe dominates, and platforms soar into space.

The store has three lines owned by designer and owner Stav Monsky: the flagship collection of locally produced clothing, a line of items handcrafted by the designer (usually one piece), and the vintage line that treasures items sewn and redesigned.

In the last two categories hide the craziest and most intriguing designs that are worth lingering over in honor of Purim Queen.
