(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, MARCH 08 - "There is no dieurobond project" for energy expenditure "at Commission level, perhaps there is at the level of some Member State".
This was stated by the executive vice president of the EU Commission Frans Timmermans in response to a question on the hypothesis of implementing the common debt instrument for the energy emergency.
"The Member States - he continued - are free in the choices they formulate in their energy mix. They are required to comply with the rules on reducing emissions but it is up to individual Member States to decide" in this sector.
"It is conceivable that some Member States may decide not to use gas as a transition fuel but to keep nuclear or coal a little longer."
