Many people like to drink fruit tea.

However, not all products are healthy.

Some contain hazardous substances.

What to look out for.

Hamm - tea stands for enjoyment: If it's cold outside, a cup of the hot drink warms you up perfectly.

After a stressful day at work, a sip of the stimulant stands for relaxation.

And tea breaks even make chores like cleaning windows easier to endure.

In addition to herbal mixtures, fruit teas are also very popular.

But here you should think carefully about which brand you choose.

Toxic substances have been detected in alarming quantities in several products.

The recommended fruit teas, on the other hand, have one thing in common, as reported by wa.de*.

Fruit tea: Carcinogenic substances detected in well-known brands

With two products in particular, the motto is very clear: hands off!

Because both the fruit tea "Bunter Frucht Tee" from Edeka's own brand "Gut und Billig" and the fruit tea "Hagehip Hibiskus" from the brand "Jeden Tag" received

the rating "insufficient" from the

Öko-Test magazine.

A high level of pesticide exposure led to the worst possible grade.

For example, high amounts of cypermethrin and carbaryl were detected in the "Gut und guige" tea.

Cypermethrin is a highly water-polluting substance and also highly harmful to bees.

Carbaryl, on the other hand, is a spray that is no longer approved in the EU and is suspected of causing cancer.

The product of "Every Day" is no less questionable.

Here, a very high level of chlorpyrifos and traces of glyphosate were discovered in the laboratory.

It doesn't just sound like a health hazard - it is.

Chlorpyrifos is suspected of altering the genome and impairing neurological development.

The pesticide glyphosate, on the other hand, is particularly controversial anyway and could lead to cancer.

So: Better not pour these two types of tea into your cup and especially not into your mouth.

Fruit tea in the test: Organic products are the better choice

Because there are much better alternatives.

Ökotest rated 13 fruit teas with the best grade, two other products were rated "good".

Top of the class include:

  • "Mild fruit tea" from Alnatura

  • "Fruit tea" from Bio Bio

  • “Organic Rosehip Hibiscus” from Bio Sonne

  • “Organic fruit tea” from Bünting Tee

  • Dennree Fruit Tea

  • "Fruit Tea" by K-Bio

  • "Organic Orange Ginger Fruit Tea" by Messmer

  • "Mild fruit tea" from Rewe Bio

  • "Teavelope Rose Hip Rosehip Fruit Tea" by Ronnefeldt

  • "Rosehip Hibiscus Fruit Tea No. 1441" by Tee Gschwendner

  • "Orange & Tangerine Fruit Tea" by Yasashi Bio Tee

  • "Fruit tea" from Lebensbaum

  • "Bio Organic Fruit Hibiscus" by Lord Nelson

With two exceptions, all of these fruit teas were free of pesticides.

Only the products from Tee Gschwendner and Ronnefeldt contain traces of a pesticide.

However, to such a small extent that the top grade was still achieved.

The two types of tea “Bio Forest Fruit” from DM and “Organic Rosehip with Hibiscus” from Goldmännchen-Tee received the second best rating.

Traces of glyphosate could be measured in the first, while the o-phenylphenol content was increased in the other.

Fruit tea is popular.

But make sure you buy the right brand.

All of these recommended products have one thing in common: they are fruit teas from controlled organic cultivation.

So if you are thirsty for a fruit tea, you should go for the organic product.

Because the three other non-organic teas didn't do quite as well in the test either.

The “Fruit Tea Mix” teapot and the Westminster Tea “Rosehip” received a “satisfactory” due to the pesticide contamination, the King's Crown “Fruit Tea Mild Rosehip” even only a “sufficient”.

Fruit tea: You should keep this in mind when preparing it

In addition, a few things should also be considered when preparing the tea in order to guarantee a safe product and to achieve the best possible taste.

Among other things, you should always observe the brewing time stated on the pack and only pour the tea with sparkling hot water.

For the sake of the environment, you should also fill the right amount of water in the kettle.

That saves energy.

And makes more sense anyway, since it's not recommended to heat water twice.

Cookies or cakes go best with tea.

However, some treat themselves to the drink with every meal.

For example to noodles.

This may be a strange combination, but it is not dangerous to health.

At least if you don't choose the wrong brand of pasta.

Because Fusilli has also evaluated Öko-Test.

Incidentally, soft drinks have an advantage in one thing: when it comes to manipulating a rapid corona test.

Because if you drink cola before the test, for example, you will quickly get a false positive result.
