Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner has announced that he intends to invest 200 billion euros in climate protection by 2026.
But where does the money go?
Berlin – The announcement by Chancellor Olaf Scholz (63) more than a week ago that he would spend 100 billion euros on arming the Bundeswehr caused waves.
Many welcome them, but there are also critical voices from the ranks of the Greens and SPD.
After all, some are wondering why not so much money is being put into stopping climate change?

As a result, Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (43) declared that the federal government wants to invest twice as much in climate protection by 2026.
In the next four years, 200 billion euros are to flow into the expansion of renewable energies and the expansion of the charging infrastructure for e-cars and hydrogen technology through the "Climate and Transformation Fund".

At the same time, the citizens should also be relieved because of the rising energy prices due to the Ukraine conflict.
Among other things, the EEG surcharge is to be abolished.
But where does the money come from?
According to the Federal Ministry of Finance, among other things, remaining loans of 60 billion euros are to be used for this purpose, which the old federal government had earmarked for combating the corona pandemic but had not used.
Fight against climate change: is the money already planned?
While some welcome the announcement, some left-wing politicians believe it is a ruse.
Accordingly, Lindner only added up the expenses that were already planned.

According to this, the annual additional expenditure would only be around 28 billion euros, in addition to the money that is already in the climate and transformation fund.
The FDP politician, on the other hand, recently admitted in the ARD “Report from Berlin” that the 200 billion euros do not in fact represent any additional expenditure for climate protection.
He gets support from the Greens chairman Omid Nouripour (46), who then made it clear at a press conference that the increase in the planned sum of money should be at least 90 billion euros.
At least that would be more than the sum that the traffic light coalition had previously earmarked for the climate and transformation fund.
