Food processors are useful helpers in everyday life.

Stiftung Warentest took a closer look at nine devices, with the test winner coming from a supermarket.

Munich - They are real treasures when it comes to preparing something quickly in the kitchen: food processors.

From kneading dough to cutting vegetables: the devices have become indispensable in many kitchens.

Stiftung Warentest* has now taken a close look at nine food processors, all of which showed strengths and weaknesses.

Stiftung Warentest: kitchen appliances in comparison

In the test, food processors were in direct competition with conventional food processors.

The difference between the two lies in the location of the drive.

In food processors, the drive protrudes into the mixing bowl from below.

Attachments or kneading hooks can be easily attached to it.

With traditional food processors, on the other hand, the drive comes from above.

A swivel arm folds over the bowl, often making the devices less compact.

The devices also differ in terms of capacity.

On average, top-drive food processors hold about twice as much as the bowls of food processors.

Kitchen machines in the test: No device was rated "Very Good"

Knead dough, chop vegetables, whip cream: a good food processor should be able to do the basics.

But the test shows that not all keep what they promise.

One device failed the endurance test and was classified as defective.

All others were rated "satisfactory" or "good".

A "very good" was not awarded.

All machines, be it from well-known suppliers such as KitchenAid, Kenwood and Bosch, but also from Lidl's own brand Silvercrest, had strengths and weaknesses.

Stiftung Warentest deducted points if the required tools, for example for whipping cream, were not available.

Even if large pieces remained after chopping nuts or carrots, the value was devalued.

Stiftung Warentest: "Mixtulpen" as a source of danger

Among other things, the foundation tested the attachments for pureeing and mixing.

The so-called "mixed tulips" posed a safety risk with some devices, because the knives continued to run when the lid was opened.

If you reach into the food processor carelessly, this could pose a risk of injury, according to the testers.

The food processor Philips Viva Collection HR7510, the Kenwood Titanium Chef Patissier XL KWL90.244SI and the Bosch Mum Series 2 MUM S2ER01 were therefore devalued in the test.

In terms of service life, one device stood out particularly poorly.

In endurance tests, in which the machines had to produce mixed and yeast dough hundreds of times, it failed after just a third of the endurance cycles.

Test winner from Lidl: Silvercrest SKMP 1300 D3 convinces with quality and price

Anyone who now thinks that the defective device is the cheapest in the test is wrong.

Stiftung Warentest proves that good food processors do not have to be expensive.

Of the nine machines examined, three received the rating "Good".

The test winner is the Silvercrest SKMP 1300 D3 from the supermarket giant Lidl.

The food processor with swivel arm can be bought for around €100.00.

When it comes to food processors, Bosch takes first place with the Multitalent 8 MC812S814 for around €175.00.

Stiftung Warentest: KitchenAid food processor failed

By far the worst test result was achieved by the KitchenAid food processor.

Quality rating: Poor (5.5).

In the "Versatility" and "Durability" categories, the device fell well behind the competition.

After only a short test period, the KitchenAid 5KFP0919 broke while kneading dough.

The machine is priced at 154.00 euros and is therefore a bit more expensive than the test winner from Lidl.

The “Monsieur Cuisine Connect” food processor, which the supermarket is allowed to resell after a legal dispute with Thermomix, also comes from Lidl.

Thermomix, on the other hand, is currently fighting

Problems - with consequences for the customers.
