The husband of a Lidl employee asked the discount chain for help via Facebook.
She reacts promptly.
The prices at the pumps are rising day by day.
Petrol and diesel are more expensive than ever.
Within a very short time, fuel prices have climbed to over two euros and there is no end in sight to the upward price spiral.
Driving becomes a luxury.
Those who cannot do without their four wheels and have to cover longer distances, for example to get to work, now have to dig deeper into their pockets.
Husband is married to a Lidl employee
This prompted a man from Tüppelgrün in the Czech Republic to contact Lidl via Facebook.
In addition to Aldi and Netto, Lidl is one of the best-known discounters in Germany and one of the largest retailers in the world.
Lidl is represented in 32 countries and operates a total of over 10,000 branches, 3,200 of them in Germany alone.
But the discounter also has around 250 branches in the Czech Republic.
The man, who has now contacted Lidl on social media, is apparently married to an employee of the discounter.
In a post on Lidl Germany's Facebook page, he asks how the team wants to support its employees in the current situation with very high petrol and diesel costs.
"My wife loves her job and drives 32 kilometers for you every working day"
"My wife loves her job and drives 32 kilometers for you every working day," writes the man.
Where exactly the woman works is not revealed in his post.
The husband of the Lidl employee suggests giving out fuel vouchers to all Lidl employees.
"It doesn't have to be a wage increase right away," he writes.
"It can also simply be a monthly fuel voucher for a certain period of time." According to the man, the discounter would convey appreciation to its employees in this way.
Although another Facebook user commented on the post with a laughing smiley, Lidl Germany's response to the man's text was not long in coming.
After just half an hour, the discounter's social media team responded promptly.
"Thank you for your inquiry," the reply said.
"It would be great if you sent us a private message with your request." The department would then get in touch with him.
Lidl replies: the man's wish is not mentioned
However, the team did not comment on the man's suggestion to issue fuel vouchers for all Lidl employees.
So it remains to be seen whether the discounter will accommodate its employees and what such support might look like.
In 2020 it was already reported that Lidl would like to thank its employees with a corona bonus of 200 euros.
Perhaps there is now another such solution.

Incidentally, it is not known whether the Lidl employee, whose husband wrote the Facebook post, is happy about her husband's initiative.
