Fuel prices are exploding.

Europe's motorists are wondering how long they can afford this.

But you can still save – at the right time.

Unfortunately, it was to be expected: the war in Ukraine is having an impact on us.

Fuel prices are at an extremely high level.

Of course, these are manageable problems compared to people who have to leave their homes because of bombing raids.

Nevertheless, they also hurt people in this country.

Especially those who don't have that much at their disposal anyway have to take a closer look at some areas of how they do business.

The two-euro mark for the liter of fuel has already been cracked.

Many motorists wonder how much longer they can afford to drive.

Of course, everyone is now trying to save money when filling up – but how?

echo24.de has inquired at what times it is at least possible to fill up as cheaply as possible.

Fuel prices rise above the 2 euro mark: When is the cheapest time to fill up?

Even before the Ukraine war, there were constant changes in the price of fuel, often several times a day.

It is easy to find at least the time window here that is relatively cheap to fill up.

In addition, drivers should avoid making a mistake when refueling.

A current study by the ADAC helps to get through the price chaos.

It was based on all price movements at the approximately 14,000 petrol stations in Germany in May 2021. Clear "advantageous times" can be derived from this.

Use the right time to refuel to save money

If you want to fill up quickly on the way to work in the morning, you fall straight into the price trap: According to the ADAC study, fuel is

most expensive in the morning.

During the night the prices are constant for quite a while, but around 6 a.m. a clear increase can be seen.

The peak in the daily price level is usually reached shortly after 7 a.m.

Refueling is more expensive in Germany than ever before - in Poland, on the other hand, it is significantly cheaper.

According to dpa information, the number of drivers who drive to the neighboring country to refuel has increased.

According to the North-East Association of Garages and Petrol Stations, the average price for diesel in the neighboring country was EUR 1.19 on Wednesday, the E10 variety cost around EUR 1.17, and Super averaged EUR 1.22.

Gas station statistics: At this time of the day, drivers fill up cheaply

Gasoline prices change frequently throughout the day.

But what is the cheapest time to refuel?

This is shown by statistics from the Federal Cartel Office.

The ADAC report states: “The price then falls, only to pick up again noticeably after 9 a.m.

During the course of the day, further price peaks follow at around 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., before 6 p.m., before 8 p.m. and finally from 10 p.m.

Then the price climbs back to its overnight level.

Average fuel prices are regularly lowest between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m..”

The time makes a decisive difference when refueling

So anyone who thinks “Oh, that's not the point” is wrong.

A lot comes together when you constantly pay attention to the right gas station and time for the new tank filling.

The ADAC writes: “Refueling at the right time is particularly profitable for drivers of petrol cars.

Here the difference between the most expensive time at 7 a.m. and the cheapest phase (between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.) is more than seven cents per liter.

With a 50 liter tank filling, this is a saving of almost four euros.” *
