Basic recipe for pancakes (Walla! Food system)

Seemingly it is very simple to make pancakes: flour, milk, eggs and you are ready to go.

However, even if your pancakes come out tasty - especially with the addition of Nutella or maple - they usually come out thin or thick and dense.

But do not worry - a well-known chef claims that there is a secret ingredient that makes pancakes super airy - and you should not give it up.

Although the pancake mixture is very easy to make, making it come out airy and crunchy is a whole other challenge.

It turns out that the missing ingredient that will turn our uneven and lumpy batter into the airy, mouth-melting pancake we all dream of is ... carbonated water.

According to the mineral water company Radnor Hills Infusions, all you need to make an airy pancake is to add carbonated water to your pancake batter - and it will make all the difference.

Chris Sanders, a hydration expert (amount of water relative to flour in the recipe) explained: "Because the water is carbonated, it naturally aerates the batter. Airy. "

If you've encountered this method before, it's probably because it's gaining momentum in Tiktok - where many have recently been experimenting with making pancakes with carbonated water.

In fact, you can also add flavored carbonated water to the batter to give your pancakes extra flavor.

Another tip that will make your pancakes even more airy is to make sure to keep the carbonated water cold, as there are more bubbles in a cold drink than in one at room temperature.

And this is how we prepared it:

how to make?

For 4 servings, put one cup of puffed flour, 2 and a half teaspoons of salt and 5 tablespoons of carbonated water in a bowl.

Then, mix the mixture until it becomes smooth and then gradually add and mix half a cup of milk.

Leave the liquid batter covered for 20 minutes.

Once the batter is ready, follow these steps:

1. Heat some vegetable oil in a pan and add about a quarter of the batter.

2. Make sure the batter is evenly distributed in the pan and after 30 seconds carefully turn it over with a spatula to cook the other side until golden.

Repeat until all the batter is well cooked.

Serve on a plate, add any topping you choose and whet your appetite!
