It is now only a matter of hours... Monday will be the lifting of the bulk of the health restrictions in France, with in particular the end of the vaccination pass to access everyday places, but also the end of the obligation to wear a mask indoors and outdoors, anywhere, except in transport.

And yet, the figures for the epidemic published this Saturday confirm the “rebound”, already mentioned on Friday by the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran.

72,443 new cases have been recorded in the past 24 hours in France, reports Public Health France.

There were, over the same period, 72,399 new contaminations on Friday, and 53,678 seven days ago.

The number of cases recorded this Saturday, however, remains lower compared to what was recorded a month ago, on February 12 (also a Saturday), with 118,611 cases over 24 hours.

At the hospital, the situation continues to improve, even if the one-time thresholds set by the government for the lifting of restrictions cannot be met.

Thus, 20,860 people are hospitalized with Covid-19 this Saturday, against 21,024 the day before and 22,196 last Saturday.

1857 patients are in critical care (resuscitation, intensive care and continuous monitoring): this is 18 less compared to Friday (1875) and 218 less than seven days ago (2075).

52 deaths in 24 hours

On the death front, we still deplore dozens of deaths from the consequences of Covid-19 every day in hospital.

52 people have died in the past 24 hours, according to figures from Public Health France.

Since the start of the pandemic in France, 111,795 patients have died from Covid-19 in French hospitals.

In an interview with Le Parisien, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced this Saturday the opening "from now on (of) the fourth dose for those over 80".

They represent 4.1 million French people and among them 3.1 million have already had three doses.

But not everyone will be eligible since you have to wait three months after the last injection.

This new campaign will also be extended to "immunocompromised who were not eligible until now", revealed Jean Castex.
